Prograd
joinery
Why
wood, and not PVC?
Before
making a final selection of material, it is vital to be well informed.
The
assumption that joinery is not to be replaced with the change of fashion after a
few years gives an advantage to wood windows. Why? The cultural state-protected
buildings are a living proof to that assertion. If a window made by the then
technology persevered for so many years, today's high-quality and well-maintained
wooden window can persevere 100 years and more.
With the
surface processing quality that could be achieved in the past, wood windows had
to be frequently coated with lacquers or protective paints. The today's quality
of wood surface processing both related to material quality and wood protection
technology, prolongs a «service life» of windows and significantly reduce a need
for applying coatings anew.
Wood is
better with regard do technical properties too.
In fact,
it's been proved that wood windows are best heat and sound insulators. Wood
stability makes it possible to manufacture large panels in one piece, with no
deformations or sealing-related consequences.
Wood
windows «breathe», which is particularly important for high-moisture rooms (for
instance kitchens, bathrooms or bedrooms), but also for the dry-air rooms (centally
heated ones). By diffusion, wood takes the excessive moisture out of the room,
or, oppositely, insert the needed moisture into the space.
The
last, but not the last, is the warmth of wood?! Most people would agree that
wood is irreplaceable with this regard. No need for any further comments.
